Our Story

The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina (HSEC) is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to the welfare of animals. Founded on a mission of compassion, HSEC works tirelessly to find homes for hundreds of animals each year. Supported entirely by donations, fundraising events, and grants, HSEC is not affiliated with national organizations like the Humane Society of the United States or ASPCA. The organization focuses on rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming efforts, ensuring that every animal receives the care and attention they deserve.

Our Impact

As of September 1, 2024, HSEC has successfully adopted 171 animals into their forever homes, accepted 98 transfers from facilities across Eastern North Carolina, and provided care for 73 surrendered animals. The community has contributed an impressive 4464 volunteer hours, showcasing the collective effort to improve animal welfare.
