Our Story

The Hudson School was founded in 1978 by Suellen Newman and a dedicated group of educators and parents in Hoboken, New Jersey. This initiative arose from the need for specialized educational programs for gifted and talented students. Starting with just 18 middle school students, the school has significantly expanded its offerings, emphasizing a curriculum that balances both western and non-western traditions while encouraging artistic expression and scholarly pursuits.

Impact

Since its inception, The Hudson School has grown ten-fold, currently serving 196 students and employing 50 faculty and staff members. The school remains committed to providing a rigorous, college-preparatory education that inspires independent thinking and intellectual risk-taking, fostering socially conscious and responsible citizens.
