Our Story

Founded in 2008 by Bill Bahen, Hudson River Community Sailing partners with public schools to provide credit-bearing afterschool programming, internships, mentoring, and college readiness. Utilizing sailing, boat operation, and boat building, HRCS enhances academic skills while instilling essential character qualities for success in college and careers.

Impact

In its first decade, HRCS has granted waterfront access to over 20,000 youth, adults, and families. The organization expanded to Inwood in 2016, launched a second youth development program there in 2018, and piloted an adaptive sailing program in 2021 to serve individuals with disabilities.
