In the spring of 2010, a small group of friends and artists in New Smyrna Beach envisioned a stronger, more sustainable community through the sharing of art. They dreamed of a central hub where artists could create, showcase, and teach art in a welcoming communal space. This vision became a reality in 2012, when The Hub on Canal opened its doors, supported by early assistance from Volusia County and the City of New Smyrna Beach.

A Creative Community Space

Located in the heart of the Arts District in New Smyrna Beach, The Hub on Canal is home to approximately 65 local and regional artists, with 16 working studios. Unlike typical galleries, The Hub features the constant presence of artists creating in the space, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of creativity and collaboration. Monthly live music, occasional theater performances, and regular cinematic exhibitions ensure there is something for everyone.

Connecting with the Community

The Hub on Canal deepens its connection with the community by offering a wide range of classes and workshops. Since its inception, The Hub has welcomed over 375,000 visitors and has become a Canal Street destination. Outreach initiatives in local schools invite students to display and sell their artwork, while programs designed for organizations like Veterans and Alzheimer’s groups ensure that the arts are accessible to all.
