Our Story
The Houston Civic Arts Association Inc, established in 1969, was founded by a passionate group of local artists. In 1971, it became a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The association opened its first gallery in Montrose in 1974, offering classes and hosting sidewalk shows to engage the community. Over the years, HCAA has provided scholarships to local high school graduates pursuing college-level art studies. After a period of dormancy due to the Covid pandemic, HCAA is revitalizing its programs and continuing its mission to support the arts.
