Founded in 1992, Housing Forward began as Tri-Village PADS, addressing homelessness in Oak Park, River Forest, and Forest Park. Initially operated by volunteers, it opened an overnight Emergency Shelter program and has since expanded to include medical clinics, transitional housing, and various support programs.
Housing Forward has reduced chronic homelessness in its Emergency Shelter by 88% from 2009 to 2014, successfully transitioning numerous individuals and families into permanent supportive housing.
