Our Story

Founded in Chicago in 1859, the House of the Good Shepherd has opened its doors and hearts to women and children facing unimaginable trauma and fear. This organization provides holistic transitional housing and family violence recovery programs that empower families to break free from cycles of violence and poverty.

Impact

Since 1980, House of the Good Shepherd has served families from 35 different countries, helping children recover from family violence. The children’s program supports those up to the age of 14, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to heal and thrive.
