Our Story

In the late 1970s, a group of students from the Claremont Colleges identified a pressing issue in their community: domestic violence. Despite Claremont's seemingly safe environment, the reality of abuse was undeniable. With alarming statistics revealing that 1 in 3 teens, 1 in 4 women, and 1 in 7 men experience abuse, the students recognized the need for action. This led to the establishment of House of Ruth, an organization dedicated to addressing domestic violence and supporting those affected.

Impact

Since 1977, House of Ruth has been committed to preventing domestic violence and ensuring the safety and well-being of survivors. Through various housing, counseling, legal, and outreach services, the organization has made a significant impact in the lives of countless individuals and families.
