Our Story
In November 2002, Michele Zander faced a life-altering injury due to a rare arteriovenous malformation (AVM). After enduring two failed embolization procedures that left her paralyzed from the waist down, Michele's determination led her to seek out spinal cord injury experts. A successful laminectomy surgery followed, allowing her to regain mobility with the aid of a walker, despite ongoing neuropathic pain. Through her rehabilitation journey, Michele encountered countless individuals affected by spinal cord injuries and neurodegenerative diseases, inspiring her to establish HoMe-SCI-ND, Inc. to fund groundbreaking research and therapies.
