Our Story
In the early 1980s, a small group Bible Study inspired by 1 John 3:17-18 began exploring local poverty. Motivated by their faith, they started giving clothing and cash to those in need. This compassionate vision expanded into the establishment of HOTEL INC, a nonprofit dedicated to helping others through extending love in the name of Christ.
Over the years, HOTEL INC has grown significantly, transforming a donated hotel into a Christian mission. The organization has expanded its services to include Manna Mart for food distribution, Solomon’s Cellar for clothing, Care Giving for financial aid, Burning Bush for disaster relief, and Elisha’s Closet for health appliances. Despite facing challenges from 2001 to 2011, the organization refocused its efforts on Manna Mart and Care Giving, leading to a revitalization in 2012 with the addition of Transitional Housing.
HOTEL INC has shifted from a traditional charity to a relational, community-based development organization, building strong partnerships with landlords and engaging in initiatives like ReImagine Charity and City Shapers BG. The organization has adapted swiftly to meet emergency community needs, especially during the pandemic, and has launched a community hub to further its mission.
