Our Story

In the 1960s, Dr. Don and Charlotte Shedd were inspired by the hospice movement in London, leading to the establishment of Hospice Buffalo. By 1978, they began offering unofficial hospice home care services with a dedicated team of trained volunteers. Over the years, this organization has grown into a nationally recognized leader in hospice and palliative care, serving patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses.

Impact

Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo serves approximately 1,000 patients daily, enhancing the quality of life for individuals with serious illnesses. With the support of nearly 900 volunteers, the organization has provided compassionate care to over 4,722 patients in Erie County.
