About Horse Protection Society of North Carolina
Founded in 1991 by Joan B. Benson, the Horse Protection Society of North Carolina (HPS) is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating neglected and abused horses. As the first equine sanctuary in North Carolina, HPS has provided a safe haven for countless equines, offering them a chance at a better life. Initially, the sanctuary accepted horses whose owners could no longer afford their care, but due to the increasing number of starved and abused equines, the focus has shifted to providing refuge for those in dire need.
Impact of HPS
HPS serves as a sanctuary of last resort for neglected and abused equines, striving to end equine mistreatment and the unwanted horse epidemic.
Why Donate?
As a nonprofit organization, HPS relies entirely on the generosity of donors to provide the best care for these beautiful horses. Every contribution, no matter the size, is invaluable and directly supports the mission of rescuing and rehabilitating equines in need.
