Our Story

Founded in 1952 by visionary Marcella Schmoeger and a dedicated group of citizens, Horizon House began as a support group for former mental hospital patients. Over the decades, the organization has evolved, expanding its services to meet the diverse needs of the community. Today, Horizon House serves not only individuals with mental illness but also adults with intellectual disabilities and homeless men and women across Delaware.
