Our Story

Founded in 2015 by Dave Gunderson, the Hopscotch Foundation began with a simple mission: to provide healthy meals and snacks to students in low-income communities in Portland, Oregon. What started as team dinners for a local high school football team has blossomed into a vital initiative serving multiple schools and organizations. During the pandemic, the foundation adapted its approach, distributing over 1,000 tons of food to families in need.

Impact

With over 60 consecutive game day meals provided to a high school football team and food pantries established in several locations, the Hopscotch Foundation has significantly improved food security in low-income areas. The organization now focuses on Controlled Environmental Agriculture, educating students about sustainable farming practices.
