Hope’s Gate: A Journey of Compassion and Change

Hope’s Gate was founded in 2011 by Patty Bauman, who was deeply moved by the plight of street children, orphans, and trafficked girls in India. Rather than feeling hopeless, Patty took action by partnering with local shelters and safe houses to create a jewelry project that would provide income and hope to these vulnerable populations. This initiative marked the beginning of a mission dedicated to transforming lives through education and fair wages.

Expanding Horizons: From India to Uganda and Beyond

As the organization grew, Hope’s Gate expanded its reach to Uganda, creating opportunities for women and children-at-risk to build new lives. Utilizing beautiful handmade paper beads and native textiles, a unique product line was developed, providing artisans with a sustainable source of income. In 2018, the organization recognized the urgent needs of refugees in the Middle East and launched a jewelry project there, offering safe and fulfilling work to those fleeing life-threatening circumstances.

Impacting Lives Through Education

Hope’s Gate is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty and exploitation. In 2017, the Hope’s Gate Education Fund was established to provide educational assistance to artisans, enabling them to pursue higher education. In 2018 alone, seventeen students received full scholarships to attend college, paving the way for a brighter future.
