Our Story

Founded in 1976 by Arietta Black and Alice Trotter, Hope Haven emerged from a deep concern for women struggling with alcoholism. By gathering community support, they secured a grant from Lance, Inc. to open the first home in 1977, serving five women on their journey to recovery. Over the years, Hope Haven has evolved into a licensed Therapeutic Community, a national best practice for treating substance use disorder. Nestled on an eight-acre former motel complex, Hope Haven now serves over 300 men, women, and children annually, including single parents and intact families.
