Our Story
Hope for Children Research Foundation was established in 1985 following the tragic loss of four-year-old Colleen Giblin to an inoperable brain tumor. Her parents, Paul and Vicki Giblin, were determined to spare other families from similar heartache. They believed that the key to a brighter future for children battling neurological diseases lay in innovative research and effective treatments.
With the support of family, friends, and notable organizations, including the 1986 Super Bowl Champion New York Giants, the foundation was born. It promotes groundbreaking research at the Colleen Giblin Research Laboratories at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, a leading institution in pediatric neurology.
Under the guidance of Dr. Darryl C. De Vivo, a renowned pediatric neurologist, the foundation has assembled a world-class team of researchers dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of various neurological disorders. In 1999, the foundation transitioned to a public entity, broadening its donor base and enhancing its capacity to support vital research.
