Our Story

HOPE Fair Housing Center was established in 1968 when a family was found living in a garage in Wheaton, Illinois. A group of compassionate individuals pooled their resources to purchase and renovate a house for this family in need. This historic effort marked the first family-assisted housing initiative in DuPage County. HOPE's innovative housing plan gained national attention, inspiring the creation of housing centers across the country. By 1970, HOPE had evolved into a full-service fair housing organization, actively challenging discriminatory policies that violate the Federal Fair Housing Act.

Our Impact

HOPE Fair Housing Center is dedicated to creating greater housing opportunities for all, ensuring that everyone can live in the community of their choice without facing discrimination.
