Our Story
Hope Connections for Cancer Support was founded by Bernie and Bonnie Kogod in memory of their daughter, Michele Susan Kogod, who bravely fought cancer. Established in March 2007 as The Wellness Community β Greater Washington, DC, the organization was renamed in July 2011 to better reflect its mission of providing a supportive community for individuals affected by cancer. Over the years, it has expanded its services, including a satellite location in Landover, MD, and adapted to offer hybrid programming in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Impact
Hope Connections offers free, professionally facilitated programs that provide emotional support, education, and wellness to thousands of individuals affected by cancer in the Greater DC area. The organization has experienced a growth of around 10% annually, demonstrating its vital role in the community.
