Our Story

The Alaska Health Project South Sudan began with Dr. Jack Hickel's visit to Old Fangak, where he witnessed the dire need for medical care and clean water. In 2008, he rallied volunteers to address these critical issues, leading to the establishment of the Alaska Sudan Medical Project, which has since evolved into the Alaska Health Project South Sudan.

Impact

Since its inception, AHPSS has successfully drilled 93 water wells and supported over 950 small family farms, significantly improving health and sanitation for 2,456 children in the region.
