Homework House

Our Story

Founded by Sr. Maureen Broughan and Sr. Jane Morrissey, Homework House began in a local parish church with a mission to support children in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Over the years, the organization has expanded its reach, now serving nearly 90 youth daily with the help of over 250 dedicated volunteer tutors.

Impact

Homework House provides free academic support and mentoring to children in Holyoke, transforming lives by offering a safe environment for learning and growth. In 2015, 63% of K-3 students met or exceeded reading growth expectations, showcasing the program's effectiveness in closing the achievement gap.
