The Armenian General Athletic Union and Scouts, known as Homenetmen, was founded in 1918 in Constantinople. Established by Shavarsh Krisian, Hovhannes Hintlian, and Krikor Hagopian, Homenetmen aims to provide Armenian youth with moral, physical, and psychological education outside the school environment while instilling a deep appreciation for Armenian culture and heritage.
Homenetmen has significantly shaped the character and leadership skills of generations of Armenian youth through its diverse scouting and athletic programs, preserving the Armenian spirit and addressing the needs of Armenian communities in the Diaspora.
