Hockey in New Jersey

Our Story

Founded in 2003, Hockey in New Jersey is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a supportive, year-round hockey program for socioeconomically disadvantaged and underserved youth. In partnership with the New Jersey Devils and the NHL's Hockey is for Everyone™ initiative, HNJ offers participants the chance to learn and play ice hockey at no cost. Based in Newark, NJ, at the Ironbound Recreation Center, HNJ stands as the second-largest youth diversity program in the United States, with offerings in Newark, Englewood, and Jersey City.

HNJ is committed to ensuring that children from diverse backgrounds have access to hockey programming at no cost. The organization has expanded its offerings to include academic enrichment and life skills workshops, significantly impacting the community.
