Our Story

In the early 1970s, Edward F. McIntyre and William Matthews recognized the urgent need for a structured Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system in Hoboken. This vision led to the incorporation of the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps on February 26, 1971. Over the years, HVAC has evolved from a small group of dedicated volunteers into the last all-volunteer ambulance service in Hudson County, NJ, responding to over 5,000 calls annually.
