Our Story

Founded in 1962 by Gertrude Pettway, the Hobe Sound Early Learning Center began as the Humpty Dumpty Kindergarten, serving a dozen toddlers in need of quality childcare. With the support of local families and a generous land donation from Joseph Reed, the center has thrived despite challenges, including a devastating fire in 1984. The community's unwavering support allowed the center to reopen in 1985, and it has continued to be a vital resource for families in Hobe Sound and surrounding areas.

Today, HSELC serves 200 children aged 1-5, focusing on educational tools and social-emotional development through the Conscious Discipline approach. This commitment ensures children are prepared for success in school and life.
