Our Story

Founded in 2001 by a dedicated group of retired California Department of Forestry employees, the Historical Society and Museum for the California Department of Forestry has been committed to preserving the rich history of firefighting in California. In 2005, the first display room was opened at the San Bernardino Cal Fire Headquarters, showcasing the legacy of service and dedication of the department. Today, the organization proudly maintains a working fleet of seven fully restored vintage CDF fire engines, which are utilized in parades and events across the state.
