The Historical Foundation of Hillsborough and Orange County, established in 2007, is dedicated to preserving the unique history of this vibrant community. The journey began in 1952 when artifacts were displayed in the Old Courthouse during the Bicentennial celebrations, leading to the creation of the Orange County Historical Museum. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Hillsborough Garden Club and local families who donated artifacts, the Museum opened its doors in 1957. Over the years, it has evolved, moving to its current location in 1983 and merging with the Hillsborough Historical Society to enhance its mission.
