About Highland Park Literary Festival

Founded in 1995, the Highland Park Literary Festival emerged from a collaboration between passionate parents and the English Department of Highland Park High School in Dallas. This vibrant festival features over 75 workshops that connect students with accomplished novelists, journalists, poets, songwriters, and playwrights. Additionally, students showcase their creativity during a student-run open-mic night, while a writing contest and special awards breakfast celebrate outstanding works of poetry, fiction, and narrative non-fiction.

Impact of the Festival

The annual festival provides invaluable access to professional writers, inspiring the Highland Park school district community through substantive artistic content.
