Arts Education

Our Story

In 1986, Jim Gibson became the principal of Highland Park High School and discovered a dire need for improved arts facilities. With no specialized art classroom and limited resources for band, choir, and orchestra, he envisioned a community initiative to support fine arts education. In 1987, alongside HPISD Fine Arts Director Linda Raya, a group of dedicated parents founded Highland Park Arts, aiming to enrich the educational experience of all students in the Highland Park Independent School District (HPISD) through comprehensive arts programming.

Our Impact

To date, HP Arts has invested over 1.3 million dollars in arts programming and equipment, benefiting students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
