Our Story
In 1995, a dedicated group of Truro citizens came together to rescue two Coast Guard houses from demolition at Cape Cod Light. These homes now provide shelter for two working families, enriching the community. Since 2008, Highland Affordable Housing has expanded Truro’s affordable housing options by adding four new rental units, including a handicapped accessible unit for seniors. This year, an affordable three-bedroom home was renovated and put on the market, with plans for a joint project with Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod next year. The mission is clear: to preserve Truro's vibrant character while promoting decent affordable housing on the Outer Cape, where the average family median income is around $78,000 and median home prices exceed $500,000.
