Our Story
Michael Fish, OSB Cam., transitioned from the Redemptorists in South Africa to the New Camaldoli Hermitage in Big Sur, California, in 1997. He engaged with the community's lay associates, known as oblates, to make monasticism and Christian spirituality accessible to modern seekers. His journey, including a transformative pilgrimage in 2010, emphasizes the importance of nurturing the 'inner monk' and living a monastic rhythm in today’s world.
