Our Story

Heritage Health and Housing, Inc. was founded in 1968 by community activists in response to the urgent need for medical care and mental health services in Central Harlem, Washington Heights, and Inwood. Over the years, the organization has evolved to provide comprehensive health care and supportive housing for the de-institutionalized mentally ill and other underserved populations. Since becoming a federally qualified health center in 1980, it has served over 6,000 clients annually, ensuring immediate access to essential mental health services.
