Our Story

The Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds (HKC) was established in 1953 to offer a large-scale campground for Jewish Community Centers, allowing children to enjoy the outdoors away from the city. Founded through the vision of Graenum Berger and significant contributions from the Henry Kaufmann Foundation, HKC has grown to serve over 5,500 campers each summer across multiple sites in New York.

Our Impact

HKC has enabled hundreds of thousands of children to experience fun-filled summers, becoming a model for day camping on local, national, and international levels.
