Helping PAWS Pet Rescue is a dedicated nonprofit organization serving the Washburn, Bayfield, and Ashland areas of northwestern Wisconsin since February 2006. The mission is clear: no adoptable companion animal should ever face euthanasia due to a lack of medical care or a loving home. This commitment extends beyond dogs and cats to include horses, rabbits, birds, and other domestic animals.

What sets Helping PAWS apart is its unwavering dedication to not only young, healthy pets but also to those with medical needs or those surrendered in dire situations. Often viewed as a last chance for survival, HPPR collaborates with volunteers, animal welfare partners, and other shelters to rescue animals in need. As a no-kill rescue, adoptable animals remain in their care until they find their forever homes, receiving unparalleled care, daily veterinary support, and high-quality nutrition.

Since its inception, the Helping Homes program has successfully rescued and placed over one thousand homeless companion animals. Additionally, Helping PAWS Pet Rescue offers affordable spay and neuter services to the communities of northern Wisconsin, significantly reducing the number of unplanned companion animals.
