Our Story

Founded in 1986, Helping Hands Outreach Ministries, Inc. began as an urban outreach program of Faith Christian Center in Bedford, New Hampshire. The first facility opened in the St. Vincent de Paul building, providing essential services such as housing for the homeless, a food pantry, and furniture distribution. Over the years, the focus shifted towards addressing the urgent need for temporary housing, enabling men to overcome homelessness, addiction, and poverty.

In 1991, Helping Hands purchased the former Saint Joseph’s School for Boys, which now serves as the primary residential location and headquarters at 50 Lowell Street. Extensive renovations transformed the school into a supportive environment for men in recovery. Today, Helping Hands operates two residential locations: a recovery center and a sober living facility known as The Gendron House.

Our Impact

For over thirty years, Helping Hands Outreach Ministries has empowered men to rebuild their lives. With two residential locations in downtown Manchester, New Hampshire, the organization provides shelter, food, case management, behavioral health services, job training, and peer support in a safe, sober environment.
