The Helping Hand Food Pantry began in 1992 when a Boy Scout recognized the need for food assistance in the community. With the support of Hillsdale's public health nurse, a food drive was organized, leading to the establishment of a dedicated food pantry. In 1998, the Hillsdale Clergy Association united local churches to create a sustainable food distribution service, governed by a Board of Trustees. This initiative has been a beacon of hope for over 30 years, serving those in need.
Every month, the Helping Hand Food Pantry provides essential food assistance to approximately 400 neighbors, including seniors, veterans, and active military members.
