Our Story

HEARD is a cross-disability abolitionist organization dedicated to uniting diverse communities to combat ableism, racism, and all forms of oppression. By recognizing deaf individuals as integral members of the disability community, HEARD fosters a collective understanding of these issues through grassroots advocacy, community organizing, and education.

Impact

Through tireless advocacy, HEARD has successfully implemented videophones in hundreds of prisons, alleviating years of isolation for deaf individuals. The organization maintains the only national database of deaf/disabled incarcerated people, providing critical research and testimony to influence policy change.
