Our Story
HELP OF SUMMERVILLE began in 1972 when a dedicated group of women recognized the urgent needs of families in their community. Partnering with a caseworker from the Department of Social Services, they started gathering food and clothing for those in need. Through rummage sales and special events, they raised vital funds to support their mission.
In the 1980s, HELP expanded its reach with the support of local agencies, churches, and generous individuals. By 1988, the organization established the Second Chance Thrift Shop, which continues to operate as a volunteer-run nonprofit, sharing profits with HELP and other local charities.
Today, HELP OF SUMMERVILLE remains committed to meeting the needs of the community, providing essential assistance to families facing hardships. With the ongoing support of compassionate donors, the organization can continue its vital work.
