About Hebrew Seminary of the Deaf
Founded in 1992 by Rabbi Dr. Douglas Goldhamer z”l, Hebrew Seminary of the Deaf is the first and only rabbinical school for the Deaf in the world. Located in Chicago, this pioneering institution is dedicated to educating a diverse body of Deaf and hearing Jews, empowering them to become rabbis and Jewish leaders. The Seminary began its journey in the library of Congregation Bene Shalom, where students and faculty gathered to explore the depths of Jewish healing, mysticism, and study.
