Our Story

For over a century, the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington has been dedicated to caring for older adults in the Greater Washington DC region. It all began in 1910 when a small group of compassionate individuals recognized the urgent need to house, feed, and support aging members of the Jewish community. This initiative led to the establishment of the Hebrew Home for the Aged in 1916, which has since evolved into Charles E. Smith Life Communities, offering a full continuum of quality services and living options for seniors.
