Our Story
Founded in the 1880s by immigrants who faced barriers in accessing financial resources, the Hebrew Free Loan Association (HFLA) was established to support the Jewish community in building homes and businesses. In 1914, HFLA of Washington State was formed by four dedicated individuals in Seattle, aiming to improve the lives of newly arrived Jewish immigrants. Since then, HFLA has continuously operated to fulfill the mission of its founders.
Our Impact
HFLA provides no-interest, no-fee loans, serving as a safety net and gateway to opportunity for the Jewish community in Washington State. As the only provider of interest-free loans in the state, HFLA plays a crucial role in financial stability.
