Heart of Tyler

Our Story

Founded in 1987 by a dedicated group of citizens, Heart of Tyler, Inc. emerged to combat the decline of downtown Tyler. Collaborating with local organizations, the nonprofit has successfully planned and promoted initiatives that breathe new life into the area. In 1990, Tyler proudly became one of the first communities in Texas to receive the Urban Program designation from the Texas Historical Commission, marking the official launch of the Heart of Tyler Main Street Program.

Impact

Heart of Tyler has been instrumental in restoring the Cotton Belt Depot, enhancing lighting throughout the district, and fostering the arts in Downtown Tyler.
