Our Story

The Healthy Start Coalition of Manatee County, Inc. was established in 1992 as part of a statewide initiative aimed at reducing infant mortality and enhancing maternal and child health outcomes. This initiative was inspired by Florida Governor Lawton Chiles and First Lady Rhea Chiles, who challenged local leaders to create coalitions that would provide high-quality prenatal care and support services for mothers and their children.

Since its inception, HSCMC has made significant strides in reducing infant mortality rates and improving health outcomes for mothers and babies through comprehensive prenatal and infant health services.
