Our Story
Founded on August 18, 2010, Health Sciences Charter School opened its doors to an inaugural class of 9th graders, aiming to prepare students for rewarding careers in the health sciences. This innovative charter school offers a rigorous college-prep education, including New York State Regents and Advanced Regents diplomas, along with dual credit courses. With strong support from local healthcare industry partners, students engage in specialized classroom curricula, laboratory-based research, mentoring programs, and real-world internships.
The establishment of Health Sciences was driven by the urgent need for skilled healthcare professionals in the Buffalo Niagara region. The school addresses the critical shortage of qualified workers in various health-related fields, including doctors, nurses, medical technicians, and health information technology specialists.
As the school has expanded from an initial class of 100 to 480 students today, the dedicated staff has grown from 10 to 70 educators, all committed to fostering a positive educational experience for young adults.
