Empowering Seniors for Healthy Aging
Founded in 1985 by dedicated community social workers, Health Advocates for Older People Inc. has been at the forefront of providing essential health care options for seniors in the Bronx. Recognizing the lack of medical resources available to the elderly, the organization developed a pioneering model of care that has since been adopted in various locations. In the 1990s, the focus shifted to housing, leading to the construction of Carnegie East House, which served the elderly in the Yorkville neighborhood and the Upper East Side.
Today, Health Advocates continues to champion the Healthy Aging Program, which is dedicated to enhancing the lives of New York City’s seniors. This program offers vital support, tools, and techniques that empower older adults to live independently and vibrantly.
