About Headwaters Science Institute

Founded by Megan Seifert, Spencer Eusden, and Mary Ellen Benier, Headwaters Science Institute began with just $600 and a passion for science education. The organization was born out of a desire to inspire students to ask their own questions and engage deeply with scientific concepts. Since 2014, Headwaters has empowered students to conduct independent research, fostering a love for science and inquiry.

Headwaters provides scholarships to over half of the schools it collaborates with, ensuring that every child has access to quality science education. With donations making up 55% of the annual budget and only 4% allocated to overhead, the organization maximizes its resources to support students in their educational journeys.
