Our Story

In June 1987, Evelyn Montgomery Hazen bequeathed her 1858 Italianate home to serve as a museum for the public good. To honor her wishes, the Hazen Historical Museum Foundation was established in 1989, dedicated to preserving the Mabry-Hazen House and its rich collection of family artifacts. This historic site not only showcases the elegance of antebellum architecture but also serves as a vital educational resource for the community.

Impact

The Mabry-Hazen House stands as Knoxville's only historic house museum featuring the original family collection, while the Bethel Cemetery is the final resting place for over 1,600 Confederate soldiers.
