Our Story

The Hazelwood Initiative emerged from the dedication of local residents in 1994, who formed the Hazelwood Neighborhood Maintenance Task Force to tackle community maintenance issues. Over the years, this grassroots effort evolved, culminating in the establishment of the Hazelwood Initiative, Inc. in 1999. This 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is committed to fostering inclusive community development in the Greater Hazelwood area, focusing on affordable housing and revitalization efforts.
