Our Story
Established in 1935, the Haxton Memorial Library has been a cornerstone of the Oakfield community for decades. Originally organized as the Oakfield Free Library, it found its first home in the local elementary school. In 1963, a generous donation from Mr. G. Sherwin Haxton and his wife led to the construction of the Haxton Memorial Library, which opened its doors in 1969. This community library, located at the corner of Drake and North Pearl Streets, was designed to house 12,000 volumes, providing a wealth of resources for all residents.
