Since 1965, The Hawthorne Cancer Foundation has been dedicated to assisting cancer patients and their families in the greater Richmond metropolitan area. Formerly known as The Johns Cancer Foundation, this 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization has evolved to provide comprehensive support through financial assistance, emotional guidance, and material resources. The foundation's vision was realized with the opening of The Hawthorne Cancer Resource Center at Johnston-Willis Campus in 2001, co-founded by Robin P. Yoder and Melanie Dempsey.
